Some people don't like the plastic shade, but I think it looks fine and passes for glass unless you look really closely. Unfortunately, after a few days the light started turning off randomly, and you have to jiggle the on/off switch to get it on again. Maybe it was a fluke, my sister has the same lamp and hers has worked perfectly for months.
